Breast Cancer Screening

The treatment of breast cancer is more effective if the breast problem is caught in the early stages, this is the rationale behind breast screening.

Mammography is the only method of breast screening that is proven to be clinically effective. Breast screening is provided by the National Health Service 3 yearly for all UK women aged between 50-70. These results normally take 2 weeks to arrive.

Digital mammographic screening is available at The Harley Street Breast Clinic, with results posted in around 2 working days. If you require further tests after the screening mammogram, one of our medical team will call you to explain exactly what is required and answer your questions. She will book you for an appoinment for the one stop breast clinic to see a Breast Consultant and further imaging, whereby you will recieve results on the day.

Breast screening is also effective between the ages of 40-50, and over 70, though mammograms should be carried out more often, at least once every two years.
