Mr. Nicolas Beechey-Newman BSc, MB, BS, MS.FRCS (Eng.)
Consultant Breast Surgeon and Clinical Director, The Harley Street Breast Clinic
Mr Beechey-Newman trained at Guy’s Hospital Medical School between 1977 and 1983. He spent 14 years in general surgical training before joining the Breast Unit at Guy’s King's and St.Thomas’ Hospitals. He specialises exclusively in breast disorders including benign breast problems, the treatment of breast cancer and breast reconstructive surgery.
Mr Beechey-Newman was one of the first surgeons in the UK to perform sentinel node biopsy after visiting Dr Armando Giuliano who first described the technique in California. He has also pioneered breast duct micro-endoscopy in Europe. He has researched and written extensively on these two subjects the latter being the subject of more than 2,000 media articles.
Research publications include recent articles on breast duct micro-endoscopy, sentinel node biopsy, breast cancer occurring in very young women (under the age of 25 years) and Paget’s disease of the nipple.
Mr Beechey-Newman sees patients at The Harley Street Breast Clinic where he is Clinical Director, at the London Bridge Hospital and The Lister Hospital on the Chelsea Embankment. All three clinics have a unique one-stop diagnostic facility that provides the results of mammograms, ultrasounds and needle biopsies in a single visit. The clinics are scheduled so that there is one every day of the week meaning that if you are worried about a breast problem you should only have to pick up the phone to arrange a consultation with all the required tests and all of the results in one clinic visit and in less than 24 hours. It is often possible to arrange an appointment on the same day.
His ethos is that to achieve the very best results you have to take the time to pay attention to every detail. His clinics are designed to reflect this ideal and to remove the anxiety of waiting days or even weeks for test results. “When you are worried about a breast problem you need the very best in every aspect of your care. By selecting London’s top consultant radiologists and pathologists to work with me and by accepting only the highest standards we have created clinics that are technically the most advanced in the UK but with the compassion and the time that we know are vital to the management of any patient with a concern about their breasts."
